Bluefield launches social network. New Bluefield College students are getting to know one another, even before they step foot on the BC campus, thanks to a new social network called BC Bound. Designed by the college’s admissions office, BC Bound is similar to Facebook, but with one difference — only those who have been admitted to Bluefield College are invited to join. Already, 137 incoming freshmen have joined BC Bound. Since the launch last April, the site has accumulated more than 37,000 page views. Students have posted more than 500 photos, from profile pictures and family shots to high school memories and sports highlights. They’re also learning more about each other by posting “About Me” and “Passion” blogs and sharing thoughts and concerns on “Orientation” and “Finding a Roommate” in BC Bound’s chat room and forum. SBCV exec leaves for pastorate. Jeff Ginn has resigned as executive director of the Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia to become senior pastor of a Louisiana church, Baptist Press has reported. Ginn, who has been SBCV’s executive for three years, ended his tenure July 31, assuming the pastorate of Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, La., the next day. Istrouma has a membership of about 3,700 and an average worship attendance of about 1,500, according to Baptist Press. Ginn was pastor of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Va., before his election as SBCV executive in 2008. Earlier he was a missionary with the Southern Baptist Convention’s International Mission Board and director of the Schenectady, N.Y., campus of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary.
