Women gather to pray, fast for public schools

NewsJim White  |  December 15, 2009

Moms In Touch International is celebrating its 25th year of encouraging moms to pray for children and schools. What began as one mother’s heart-cry as her children went to public junior high school has expanded to include an estimated 175,000 moms throughout the United States and in more than 130 countries.

To celebrate the special anniversary, Moms In Touch International is hosting a historic prayer event called Arise! Cry Out! on Nov. 14. Christian women from around the world are encouraged to fast and pray for the current generation of students in more than 1,000 host sites throughout the United States, Russia, Nigeria, Argentina, South Korea, Mexico, Germany, Moldova, India, Japan and approximately 70 other countries.

Organizers are expecting the event to be an amazing time of passionate prayer led, via DVD, by Moms In Touch International Founder/President Fern Nichols, Pastor Miles McPherson (founder of Miles Ahead Ministries and pastor of the Rock Church in San Diego) and the worship team Crimson Bridge.

The professionally recorded and edited DVD was created at the Arise! Cry Out! live event, Oct. 9-10 at the Rock Church in San Diego, and will be used around the globe on Nov. 14, to facilitate a worldwide day of prayer for children and schools. Women from 41 different states and 19 countries attended the live event, experiencing a time of praise, inspiration and prayer for children and schools.

In Virginia, events will be held in the locations listed below with each hostess also given.

• Greenbrier Community Church; 825 Greenbrier Pkwy.; Chesapeake VA 23320.

• Southview Baptist Church, 2620 Reston Pkwy., Herndon, VA 20171

• Stafford County Christian Church, 1813 Mountain View Rd., Stafford, VA 22556
