STAFF CHANGES
David Emmanuel Goatley, to Duke Divinity School, Durham, N.C., as research professor of theology and black church studies and faculty director of the Office of Black Church Studies, effective July 1.
Libby Grammer, to First Baptist Church, Martinsville, Va., as senior pastor. She has served at River Road Church, Baptist, Richmond, Va., for the past three years.
Jeremy Hall, to Towne View Baptist Church, Kennesaw, Ga., as associate pastor of faith development.
James Hassell, to Journey Church, Roanoke, Va., as lead pastor, following the retirement of its current pastor. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, San Angelo, Texas.
Wyndee Holbrook, to the Academy of Preachers, as senior program consultant. She previously was on staff at the Academy serving as lead gospel catalyst, director of programs and executive director.
Kat Kimmel, to University Baptist Church, Hattiesburg, Miss., as co-pastor.
Jonathon Shattuck, to Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church, Roxboro, N.C., as pastor. He comes from the pastorate of Wise (N.C.) Baptist Church.
RETIREMENT
Louise Kemp Avant, retiring as minister of music at First Baptist Church, Austin, Texas, effective August 12.ain Street Baptist Church, Binghamton, N.Y., as pastor.
ORDINATIONS
Amy Grasty, ordained to ministry by Woodland Baptist Church, Wake Forest, N.C., on June 17.
John Snell, ordained to ministry on May 20 by First Baptist Church, Kent, Wash., where he serves as pastor.
DEATH
Jesse C. Fletcher, 87, died June 14 in Abilene, Texas. He was director of personnel (now human resources) of the SBC Foreign (now International) Mission Board and later was promoted to director of the missions support division. In 1975 he became pastor of First Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tenn. In 1977 he became the 12th president of Hardin Simmons University in Abilene. He served as president from 1977 until 1991, as chancellor from 1991 to 2001 and he has been president emeritus since 2001. He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy. He is survived by his children, Scott Fletcher and Melissa Dupree Fletcher; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
