Virginia Baptist churches vary in many details of their styles and practices, but they almost universally have buildings. And buildings almost universally have problems. Nearly every church also contemplates renovation or new additions as needs and growth require design changes.
The column will provide a forum for getting facility information from a professionally reliable source. DePasquale is president of the DePasquale Delph Gentilhomme Group, Architects, a firm receiving numerous design awards. Specializing in church design statewide for more than 30 years, the firm is particularly noted for creating architecture that responds to a combination of spiritual, social and physical needs.
DePasquale is a recipient of The Distinguished Achievement Award from the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects and has taught church design at Harvard University. He currently serves as Chairman of the Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture for the Virginia Society, AIA. DePasquale is a member of Bon Air Baptist Church in Richmond.
