Church News

Hampton Church, Hampton, will celebrate the 40 years of service of Bill Hurt as its minister of education/administration with a dinner and evening of celebration on April 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the church.

Death

Former Virginia Baptist pastor Alexander C. Walker Jr. died in Culpeper on April 2 at the age of 88. He had served as pastor of churches in Rappahannock, Orange and Culpeper counties. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Cooksey Walker; three sons, John, Philip and Mark Walker; two daughters, Judith Reid and Susan Parker; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosalind Connelly. A funeral service was held April 6 at Culpeper Church, Culpeper, with interment at the Culpeper National Cemetery.
