EUFALA, Okla. (ABP) – An Oklahoma community reacted with shock to the arrest of a respected Southern Baptist pastor charged with molesting a teenage girl.
Bruce Sanders, 48, pastor of North Fork Baptist Church in Eufala, Okla., pleaded not guilty May 18 to felonies. According to local media, he was released from jail Tuesday on $100,000 bond.
Prosecutors began investigating Sanders after a 19-year-old woman came forward alleging sexual misconduct that started when she was 16 and lasted through her high school years while she lived in the pastor’s home. Prosecutors said they learned of the allegations in April from Oklahoma Baptist University, where the young woman now attends.
