STAFF CHANGES

David Anderson, to Augusta Baptist Association, Staunton, Va., as director of missions. He retired from First Baptist Church, South Boston, Va.

Benjamin Boyd, to Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Columbia, Va., as pastor.

Jerry Cain, to Grace Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo., as pastor. He is the former president and chancellor of Judson University in Elgin, Ill., and vice president of William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo.

Steve Chromy, to Mount Hermon Baptist Church, Danville, Va., as senior pastor. He comes from Poplar Spring Baptist Church, Bunn, N.C., where he was pastor of families, discipleship and administration.

Ricky Garza, now serving as lead pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk, Va.

Jim Hardwick, to Hillsboro Baptist Church, Crozet, Va., as pastor.

Dwight Hedges, to Mechanicsville (Va.) Baptist Church, as youth minister.

Terry Morrison, to Lower King & Queen Baptist Church and Olivet Baptist Church, both in Mattaponi, Va., as pastor.

Bruce Powers, to Urbanna (Va.) Baptist Church, as interim pastor.

Joey Pyle, to Memorial Baptist Church, Columbia, Mo., as pastor.

Maria Swearingen and Sally Sarratt, to Calvary Baptist Church, Washington, D.C., as senior co-pastors. Swearingen comes from Furman University, Greenville, S.C., where she was associate university chaplain. Sarratt comes from Greenville Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Greenville, S.C., where she was sabbatical minister. She also works as associate chaplain for behavioral health in the Greenville Health System.

Justin Waples, to Thaxton (Va.) Baptist Church, as youth and children’s pastor.

RETIREMENT

Deborah Cochran, retiring as associate pastor of First Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. 

DEATH

Jerry Lamon Barnes, 85, died Jan. 5 in Miami, Okla. He was a Baptist minister for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Bobby; children, Joni Hawkins, Joel Barnes and Leslie Swan; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Tim Young, 20 years on staff of Hollins Road Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va. He currently serves as minister of education and family life.
