STAFF CHANGES

Cameron Lazier, to First Baptist Church, Lee’s Summit, Mo., as minister to students.

Tony Floyd, to Mars Hill (N.C.) University, as president, effective June 1. He currently is executive vice president of Coker College, Hartsville, S.C.

Rick Foster, to Mentow Baptist Church, Huddleston, Va., as pastor. He had been interim pastor.

Leigh Halverson, to Vineville Baptist Church, Macon, Ga., as minister of family life and education. She comes from First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Ala., where she was minister to children.

Jillian Farmer Hankamer, to First Baptist Church, Lewisburg, Pa., as pastor. Previously she was minister of youth at Kirkwood Baptist Church, St. Louis, Mo.

Alice Horner-Nelson, to Calvary Baptist Church, Denver, Colo., as minister of communications and Sacred Space.

Randy Hyde, to Second Presbyterian Church, Little Rock, Ark., as transitional pastor for congregational nurture. He recently retired as pastor of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church in Little Rock.

Jody Long, now serving as executive coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia. He comes from First Baptist Church of Christ, Macon, Ga., where he was minister of missions and students.

Greg Lundberg, to First Baptist Church, Southern Pines, N.C., as minister of music and senior adults.

Dan Morgan, to Middleburg (Va.) Baptist Church, as pastor.

Joan S. Parrott, now serving as senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Hampton, Va. She had served as its executive pastor.

Anita Peebles, to First Baptist Church, Seattle, Wash., as associate pastor for Next Generation ministries.

Tony Stang, to First Baptist Church, Winchester, Ky., as lead pastor.

Ed Sunday-Winters, to Greensboro United Church of Christ, Greensboro, Vt. He comes from First Baptist Church, Phenix City, Ala.

RETIREMENT

Don Runion, announcing plans to retire after 36 years as senior pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Va.

Harvey Whaley Jr., retiring after 20 years as pastor of Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Garner, N.C.

Ken Wilson, retiring after serving as minister of music at Knollwood Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C., for 32 years.

J. Robert White, announcing plans to retire after 25 years as executive director of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, effective Dec. 31.

DEATHS

Evelyn Jean Breese, 86, died Feb. 21 in Bend, Oregon. She served four American Baptist churches as minister of education. She became pastor of the Southside United Protestant Church, Richland, Wash., in 1987, until her retirement in 1997. She is survived by a nephew, Herbert Krueger; and a niece, Mary Smith-Lucas.

Douglas Deer, 66, died Feb. 27 in Boston, Mass. He was a longtime American Baptist pastor in New York, serving churches in Franklinville, McGraw and retiring in 2014 from First Baptist Church, Cooperstown, N.Y., where he served for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, Susan.

Dennis W. Shufelt, 76, died Feb. 26 in Wheatland, Wis. He served as an American Baptist minister for 30 years, with pastorates including Highland Baptist Church in Michigan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue. He is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Shufelt, Laura Niemietz and Tiffany Myers; and three grandchildren.
