RETIREMENTS
Jim Ailor, retiring after more than 10 years as field strategist for the Baptist General Association of Virginia. Previously he was executive director of missions for Peninsula Baptist Association.
Dick Hillegass, retiring after 10 years as church administrator at Chancellor Baptist Church Fredericksburg, Va.
Pat Taylor, retiring as president of Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, Mo., effectiveAug. 15. He is the longest serving president in SBU’s 139-year history.
DEATHS
Clifton E. Hudgins, 70, died April 25 in Staunton, Va. He had served as director of missions for Pittsylvania (Va.) Baptist Association and as a field strategist with the Baptist General Association of Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Glenda; three sons, Darrin, Nathan and Daniel; and three grandchildren.
Howard L. Sheffey, 85, died April 16 in Schenectady, N.Y. He retired in 1977 as a sergeant with the New York Police Department. He worked for the New York State Department of Transportation, before receiving the call to ministry. In 2001 he became pastor of Old Stone Church, Ballston Spa, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Doris; three daughters, Stacey, Kelley and Renee; and one granddaughter.
