STAFF CHANGES

Katie Schlimmer Callaway, to First Baptist Church, High Point, N.C., as minister of spiritual formation.

Gary Dalton, to West Main Baptist Church, Danville, Va., as interim pastor, effective Sept. 1.

Sara Herrington Jones, concluding her tenure as minister to children at Central Baptist Church, Lexington, Ky.

Aileen Lawrimore, to Ecclesia Baptist Church, Asheville, N.C., as pastor.

Michael Sciretti, to the Center for Christian Spirituality, Chapelwood United Methodist Church, Houston, Texas, as worship community pastor. Previously he served on the staff of Freemason Street Baptist Church, Norfolk, Va.

Rachel Sciretti, concluding her tenure as associate pastor for children and youth discipleship at Hampton (Va.) Baptist Church, to relocate to Houston, Texas.

Allison Sherwood, to First Baptist Church, Beaufort, S.C., as assistant of music and worship arts.

Ken Watkins, to University Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio, as interim pastor.

 

ORDINATIONS

Jennifer Bradley, ordained to ministry by First Baptist Church, Moorestown, N.J., where she is associate pastor.

Benjamin Fuller, ordained to ministry on July 15 by Woodland Baptist Church, Wake Forest, N.C.

 

 

DEATHS

Samuel H. Bullock Jr., 75, died July 12 while attending a conference in Texas. Since 1982 he served as pastor of Bethany Baptist Church, Detroit, Mich. He served a pastorate in Massachusetts prior to that. His involvement in the church and community include president of the Joan Ann Bullock Academy; past president of the Michigan Progressive Baptist Convention; past president of South East Area ABC Ministers Council; past president of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and Vicinity Inc.; and executive secretary of the Michigan Progressive Baptist Convention.

Van Wayne Stuart, 62, died June 11 in Raleigh, N.C. From 1998 to 2008 he was pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Schenectady, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Saundria; two daughters, Nicole Fleeks-Scott, Elyse Stanley; son, Justin Newry; and one grandchild.
