STAFF CHANGES

Nick Briggs, to First Baptist Church, Scottsdale, Ariz., as director of youth and growth groups.

Marilyn Fightmaster, concluding her tenure as pianist at Calvary Baptist Church, Lexington, Ky., after 47 years of service.

Holly Hatton, to First Baptist Church, Memphis, Tenn., as interim children and youth ministry coordinator.

Charity Roberson, to Mosaic Church, Clayton, N.C., as pastor. Previously she was field strategist and ministry placement coach for the Baptist General Association of Virginia.

June Robinson, concluding her tenure as staff minister for American Baptist Churches of the Central Region, effective Feb. 1. She has accepted the call to pastor Faith Evangelical Free Church in Manhattan, Kansas.

Paul Schneider, to Burien Community Church, Seattle, Wash., as pastor. Previously he was interim pastor there.

 

RETIREMENT

Ron Cornwell, retiring as pianist at Millfield Baptist Church, Ivor. Va.

 

ORDINATIONS

Jessica Kemp, ordained to ministry on Dec. 16 by Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas.

Jenna Sullivan, ordained to ministry by Second Baptist Church, Little Rock, Ark., on Dec. 9.

 

DEATHS

Donald H. Crosby, 84, died Dec. 29 in Worcester, Mass. He served as pastor of White Street Baptist Church, East Boston; West Sommerville (Mass.) Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, New Haven, Conn.; and First Baptist Church, West Hartford, Conn. He also served as executive minister of the American Baptist Churches of Rhode Island and interim executive minister of American Baptist Churches of New Hampshire and Vermont. He is survived by his wife, Marshall; four sons, Paul, Stephen, David, and Mark; two daughters, Janelle Sweet and Faith Manish; and 14 grandchildren.

Scott Hammett Jr., 59, died Dec. 27 in Clemmons, N.C. He was pastor of First Baptist Church, Clemmons, N.C. Previously he had also served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Gaffney, S.C., First Baptist Church, Blacksburg, S.C., and Spartanburg (S.C.) Community Church (Milestones). He is survived by his wife, Melissa; two sons, Randolph Scott and Jeremiah Grant; and a daughter, Cynthia Holland Lavine.

Larry Bertrand, 40 years as associate pastor of Tallowood Baptist Church, Houston, Texas.

Jimmy Darby, 10 years as senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, Ark.

David and Sherri Ledbetter, 25 years as pastor and associate pastor, respectively, at Crosspoint Church of Clinton Township, Mich.
