STAFF CHANGES

Katie and John Callaway, to First Baptist Church, Savannah, Ga., as co-pastors. They come from First Baptist Church, High Point, N.C., where she served as minister of spiritual formation and he was minister of students and media.

Charlie Fuller, concluding his tenure as executive pastor of First Baptist Church, Washington, D.C., effective July 1.

Angela Parker, to McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, Atlanta, Ga., as assistant professor of New Testament and Greek, effective Aug. 1. She comes from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology, where she has served as assistant professor of biblical studies since 2015.

Steve Sanden, to First Baptist Church, Abington, Mass., as pastor.

Mark Shideler, to Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va., as student pastor. He comes from Mikado Baptist Church, Macon, Ga., where he served as minister of children, media and communication.

Douglas Sweeney, to Samford University’s Beeson Divinity School, Birmingham, Ala., as dean, effective July 1. He comes from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill., where he is the Distinguished Professor and chair of Church History and the History of Christian Thought and founding director of the Jonathan Edwards Center.

David Teem, to Immanuel Baptist Church, Newport News, Va., as pastor. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Steele, Mo.

Bob Thurman, to State Line Baptist Church, Danville, Va., as pastor, effective in May.

 

ORDINATION

Fana Armstrong, ordained to ministry on April 7 by Peace Haven Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C.

 

DEATH

Kenneth L. Hoard, 69, died April 6 in Millington, Mich. He was a school counselor and retired from Bangor Township Schools in 2014 to become pastor of Millington (Mich.) Baptist Church, his home church. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; a daughter, Patti Steinbrecher; three sons, Chris, Robert and John; and four grandchildren.

Robert Parsley, 20 years as senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Crofton, Md.
