STAFF CHANGES

Lynn Brinkley, now serving as director of church, alumni and student relations for Campbell University Divinity School, Buies Creek, N.C.

Butch Hudson, concluding his tenure as pastor of Gwathmey Baptist Church, Ashland, Va.

Peter Li, to Grace Chinese Baptist Church, Richmond, Va., as Chinese ministries pastor.

Larry McCutcheon, to Brookwood Baptist Church, Birmingham, Ala., as minister to youth and their families.

Nataly Mora, to Park Lane Drive Baptist Church, Waco, Texas, as Spanish and ministry outreach pastor.

Joshua Raskin, to University Baptist Church, Baltimore, Md., as associate pastor of college, young adults, adult discipleship and communications.

Reggie Warren, to Troutville (Va.) Baptist Church, as interim pastor.

Adam West, to Fort Lewis Baptist Church, Salem, Va., as interim pastor.

 

RETIREMENTS

Mike Pearce, retiring as minister of missions at First Baptist Church, Huntsville, Ala.

Larry Sprouse, retiring after more than 31 years as pastor of Melrose Baptist Church, Roanoke, Va.

 

DEATHS

Morris W. Lee Sr., 83, died July 26 in Youngstown, Ohio. He served as pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Doswell, Va., and Third Baptist Church, Youngstown, Ohio, where he was serving at the time of his death. He served as a member of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society, of the Home Mission Board of the National Baptist Convention, the executive board of Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention, and the board of the American Churches of Ohio and the Ohio Council of Churches. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two children, Morris W. Lee Jr. and Miriam M. Lee; and two grandchildren.

Daryl Richman, 84, died July 7 in San Pedro, Calif. He was pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist and Bybee’s Baptist churches in Troy, Va, prior to his call to begin a faith-based ministry to students, faculty and staff at the University of Virginia. He founded the Center for Christian Study in Charlottesville, Va. He is preceded in death by his wife, Allayne. He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Harris, Valerie Richman and Kathleen Mayo; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Kevin Schrum, 67, died July 15 in Hampton, Va. He had served as pastor of several Virginia Baptist churches, including Smithland Baptist Church, Heathsville; West Hampton Baptist Church, Hampton; and Buckroe Baptist Church, Hampton. He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughters, Jennifer E. Proffitt; Suzanne M. Nester, and Amber L. Schrum; and five grandchildren.
