The push to place Bibles in every public school classroom in Oklahoma has a new funding mechanism. Lee Greenwood’s Bibles for USA has launched a website where individuals may donate the $59.99 required to purchase a so-called “Trump Bible” that will be sent to the Oklahoma Department of Education.
Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters sparked nationwide attention when he ordered all Oklahoma classrooms to have Bibles present and for all teachers to offer instruction from the Bibles. The Oklahoma Department of Education issued a request for bids for a specific kind of Bible that largely matched the description of Greenwood’s God Bless the USA Bible.
That Bible has been endorsed by President Donald Trump and he is involved in the marketing of the King James Version Bible that also includes the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence and the Pledge of Allegiance.
A screaming all-caps headline on the Greenwood website declares: “GOD, CHRISTIANITY AND MORAL VALUES ARE OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE. IT’S CRUCIAL TO EDUCATE AMERICA’S NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP: YOUR CHILDREN!”
The text explains: “The goal of this campaign is to provide copies of the God Bless the USA Bible to as many schools within the State of Oklahoma Department of Education as possible. BiblesForOklahoma.com and BiblesforUSA.com allows you the option of purchasing a Bible and having it donated to the State of Oklahoma Department of Education.”
The donated Bibles are being sold at full retail price.
“This special Bible will help our next generation of leadership to carry on the future of America as we’ve known it,” the website asserts.
