STAFF CHANGES

Taylor Bell, to Baptist Church of the Covenant, Birmingham, Ala., as ministries coordinator.

Troy Freeman, to First Baptist Church, Lewisville, Texas, as worship pastor.

Court Greene, to First Baptist Church, Canton, N.C., as pastor. He comes from the pastorate of Lattimore (N.C.) Baptist Church.

Karen Gray, to First Baptist Church, Black Mountain, N.C., as youth and children’s director.

Jeff Hensley, to Hester Baptist Church, Oxford, N.C., as pastor.

Jarod L. Pillsbury, to First Baptist Church, Collinsville, Va., as associate pastor for families and youth.

Nathan Price, to Central Baptist Church, Bonifay, Fla., as pastor. He comes from East Hill Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Fla., where he served as minister to students. 

RETIREMENTS

Bobby Broyles, retiring as pastor of First Baptist Church, Ballinger, Texas.

Karen Broyles, retiring as worship pastor at First Baptist Church, Ballinger, Texas.

Larry Davis, retiring as pastor of South Garland Baptist Church, Garland, Texas. 

ORDINATIONS

Dorilin Tito San Jorge, ordained to ministry on March 4 by William Carey Baptist Church, Havana, Cuba.

Zau Sam Lahtaw, ordained to ministry on March 12 by First Kachin Baptist Church of America, Omaha, Neb. He has been in ministry for 15 years in Burma, California and Nebraska. 

DEATHS

Harold Edwin Aadahl, 61, died March 9 in Williamsburg, Va. He had served as associate pastor of Temple Baptist, Orcutt Baptist and Hilton Baptist churches in Newport, News. Va. He is survived by his wife, Mary; parents, Edwin and Elizabeth; son, Aaron; daughters Sara A. Maslyn and Hannah Aadahl; and a granddaughter.

Jack B. Johnson, 82, died March 5 in Henderson, Nev. He was president of the SBC Radio and Television Commission from 1990-97, when the broadcast ministry became part of the new North American Mission Board. Prior to this he was executive director/treasurer of the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary; and two children, Joy and Jack.

C. David Matthews, 76, died March 11 in Bradenton, Fla. He had served as pastor of First Baptist Church, Sanger, Texas; First Baptist Church, Altus, Okla.; Seventh and James Baptist Church, Waco, Texas; First Baptist Church, Greenville, S.C.; Christ Community Church, Orlando, Fla.; and Royal Lane Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas. He was a writer of sermons and liturgies and was president of Gold Label Publications. He was married to Susan Matthews. He is survived by his step-daughter, Catherine Fryback; son, Kyle Matthews; daughter, Kay M. Bond; and four grandchildren.
