STAFF CHANGES

Craig Boyanton, to First Baptist Church, Morrow, Ga., as minister of youth.

Linda McKinnish Bridges, to Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, Va., as president, effective July 1. She currently is senior director of Shorelight Education, a consulting firm specializing in international higher education, and was part of BTSR’s original staff when it opened in 1991.

Chris Canary, resigning as university minister at First Baptist Church, Norman, Okla., to accept a position at Mid-America Christian University, Oklahoma City

Greg DeLoach, to McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, Atlanta, Ga., as director of development.

Larry Denman, to Second Baptist Church, Memphis, Tenn., as associate minister/music and worship.

Jessecca Green, to Trinity Baptist Church, Madison, Ala., as youth minister.

Andy Liu, to First Baptist Church, Shreveport, La., as pastor of its Chinese congregation.

Martha Mikula, to Orange (Va.) Baptist Church, as director of music.

Charles Qualls, to Franklin (Va.) Baptist Church, as senior pastor. He comes from Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church, Atlanta, Ga., where he served as associate pastor.

Georgia Risenhoover, named coordinator of the Native American Missions Initiative for chaplaincy for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. 

ORDINATION

Ally Matteson, ordained to ministry on March 19 by South Main Baptist Church, Houston, Texas. 

DEATHS

William O. Crews, 81, died March 1 in Ontario, Calif. He became the sixth president of Gateway Seminary (formerly Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary) in 1986. Previously he had served as pastor of Magnolia Church, Riverside, Calif., and as pastor of churches in Washington, Oregon and Texas. He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; and granddaughter, Nicole Crews. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald; and daughter, Rhonda.

James Wesley Williams, 64, died March 14 in Appomattox, Va. He was the founding pastor of Grace Hills Baptist Church in Appomattox and served as pastor of Baptist and Presbyterian churches in Northern Virginia and southern Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Gregory; and granddaughter.
