STAFF CHANGES

Fred Andrea, to Clinton United Methodist Church, Salley, S.C., as pastor.

Garrett Bowman, to First Baptist Church, South Boston, Va., as senior pastor, effective the end of July. He comes from Southeast Baptist Church, Greensboro, N.C., where he was associate pastor of families and missions.

Joseph Burwell, to Grace Baptist Church, Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., as pastor.

Austin Carty, to Boulevard Baptist Church, Anderson, S.C., as pastor. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Corbin, Ky.

Bob Ellis, concluding his tenure as pastor of senior life at First Baptist Church, Ashland, Va.

Aaron Fehlen, to Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va., as director of music ministries and administration.

Charlie Fuller, concluding his tenure as executive pastor of First Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.

Tom Gaskins, to Monument Heights Baptist Church, Richmond, Va., as interim pastor.

Mary Allen Godfrey, to First Baptist Church, Lincolnton, N.C., as director of children and family ministry, effective Aug. 4.

Willie Hadnot Jr., to Heritage Baptist Church, Annapolis, Md., as minister of music.

Tony Lowden, to Maranatha Baptist Church, Plains, Ga., as pastor.

Noel Schoonmaker, to Second Baptist Church, Richmond, Va., as senior pastor, effective in August. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Tim Scott, to Main Street Baptist Church, Luray, Va., as pastor. Previously he was pastor of Goshen Baptist Church, Scottsville, Va.

Craig Sherouse, joining the consulting and coaching team at The Center for Healthy Churches. He recently retired as senior pastor of Second Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.

Mark Shideler, to Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Mechanicsville, Va., as minister to families and media.

Gavin Spell, concluding his tenure as minister to youth and families at Forest Hills Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C.

Tyler Tankersley, to Ardmore Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, N.C., as senior pastor, effective Aug. 4. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mark Thompson, to American Churches of Indiana and Kentucky, as regional minister. He comes from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Brazil, Ind.

Zach Williams, to Grace Baptist Church, Woodbridge, Va., as contemporary worship leader.

 

RETIREMENTS

Donald Bowen, retiring as pastor of Cobham Park Baptist Church, Warsaw, Va.

Linda Jones, retiring after 13 years as missions coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina.

 

ORDINATIONS

Jane Dye, ordained to ministry on May 19 by College Park Baptist Church, Greensboro, N.C.

Rachelle Eaton, ordained to gospel ministry on June 9 by the United Church of Acworth, N.H.

Matthew Greg, ordained to ministry on June 8 by Yates Baptist Church, Durham, N.C.

Elizabeth Miller Villegas, ordained to ministry on June 2 by First Baptist Church, Ahoskie, N.C.

 

 

DEATHS

H.D. Harman, 88, died June 8 in Richmond, Va. As a minister he served Blackburn Chapel, Shawnee, Okla.; First Baptist Church, Okeman, Okla.; Swope Park Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo.; Boulevard Baptist Church, Falls Church, Va.; Northminster Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.; Bethany Place Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.; and Hunton Baptist Church, Glen Allen, Va. He is survived by his wife, Marcena; five daughters, Denise Langford, Michelle Harman-Gulick, Risa Gisonde, Annette Harman and Kara Barrios; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Allen Shaver, 74, died June 24 in Raleigh, N.C. He served as a minister of music for 48 years, only retiring due to health reasons. He served in this capacity at Baptist Tabernacle, Atlanta, Ga.; Pendleton Street Baptist Church, Greenville, S.C.; Curtis Baptist Church, Augusta, Ga.; First Baptist Church, Jackson, Tenn.; and Trinity Baptist Church, Raleigh, N.C. He is survived by his wife, Patty.
